When we were in Arizona we took the kids to the Arizona Science Center which was like the coolest thing I had ever seen. It was super interactive for the kids and they had a ball. The Lego Land, eyeball dissecting, and lying on a bed of nails were highlights.

The girls were in a end of the year play. Tess was in BUGZ and Tess was a yellowjacket. Hannah was in the play S'COOL. It was like a little "HIgh School Musical". They did the play for three nights and we were there every night. They were both great! I think they have found their passion.

Yep, that's us.... we own Belgian Springs Chocolate Catering Co. It's a little surreal to see a banner hanging on the BYU Football Field sidelines with our company on it. BYU has been fabulous to work for and with. They have been very good to us and use us exclusively for all of their chocolate fountain needs. Go Cougars!!

This Halloween we had the great idea that we would all dress up in themed costumes. You can see how well that went over... the kids all had strong opinions about what they wanted to be this year. Mom's opinion didn't count for much. Drew was our cute little skunk. Ethan started out the day as Captain Hook, by mid afternoon he had changed to a skeleton, and by trick or treating he had turned into a Power Ranger. Tess decided on Padme from Star Wars (that one came out of nowhere), and Hannah was "Tess" from Camp Rock. Chris decorated the yard again and it looked awesome! We LOVE it! It was incredibly warm this year- we didn't even have to wear coats... Grammy was here with us and everyone came over for a big Halloween party. We had a great Halloween!

At our Halloween party this year we had a donut eating contest where we had to eat donuts off of a string.... These Walkers are REALLY good at this game and whooped my booty! And not in a small way! Darn I guess I am just gonna have to practice eating donuts!

Becca and I took advantage of the school holiday in October and packed up the kids and drove to Colorado to visit my sister Shannen. Our days were filled and we had an awesome time. We took a hike up in the mountains and took in some gorgeous scenery.

Okay, so this place is awesome! It is a museum with 5-6 floors of cool science stuff. They had a space section where the kids could dress up in space suits, geology rooms, rooms and rooms of animals from all over the world, Hannah's favorite the Mummy room with real mummies and the ever favorite Discovery Zone where the kids could engage in all kinds of science experiments. They could blow bubbles, dance, put together puzzles, look under microscopes, etc..... One puzzle was the human body that Ryley and Tess were working on. They had a blast. We could have stayed all day.

THE DENVER ZOO

This blog caption is in Caps because it was a traumatic day. The Saturday that we were there was the "free day" at the Denver Zoo. We were so excited because it was something we wanted to do and we got to go free of charge. It was sooooo busy that day and we had to park about a mile away from the entrance. There were so many people there it took forever to get through the exhibits. That was fine... we were really there for the kids and they seemed to be enjoying themselves despite all the congestion. After 5-6 hours of the zoo some of the kids were done with the zoo and were ready to go home. A few of us wanted to catch one more exhibit and took a not so quick detour to the Lion House. We walked in and Ethan in his attempt to catch a glimpse of a lion fell head first out of the stroller and took a pretty nasty fall. I ran to pick him up and he had a seizure in my arms and then fell unconscious. I had NO CLUE what was happening and so I started running around calling for help. I don't remember alot of what happened next. It felt like those movies where you are standing in the middle of a crowd and everything is swirling around you. Medical help was dispatched and an ambulance came and took us to the hospital. If Ethan wouldn't have been so out of it he would have thought that was pretty cool. I did okay until I had to call Chris from the hospital and tell him what happened. Then I lost it. He thankfully only suffered a concussion with no major lasting effects. He got a nice little goose egg on his forehead and was a little shaken up but he is back to normal. I don't know that I am. I am definitely more paranoid about falling and have been offlicially initiated into the world of little boys.

While in Colorado we reconnected with old friends from high school. Tom and Aaron Maravilla were like brothers to us and they married two of our girl friends from high school. It was so good to see them and their families. I hope that we can keep it up. One of my highlights of the year!

Playing Catch Up

I have several posts to catch up on from last year. I fell so behind at the end of the year so the next several posts will finish up 2008. This is us on Hannah's Birthday at the Sego Lily Elementary School carnival. They had games, horses, hair painting, food and of course the monkey bars. No better way to spend a birthday!

Goodbye 2008! I love New Year's! I love making new goals and resolutions and the feeling of starting new. I love the reorganizing, the trips to DI, the crowded parking lot at the gym. It gives me the opportunity to reflect and think about the decisions and mistakes that I've made and how I want to make things better. I love that feeling of a clean slate. 2008 was a tough year for our family and we are eager for what adventures 2009 will bring. As we bury 2008 into our pasts and memories.....here are my top "8" of 2008 that helped make it enjoyable.

1. DREW- Our 4th child was born in April of this year. He is such a fantastic baby! He is bright eyed and inquisitive and smiles all the time. He was a surprise baby. I thank God everyday for him. I love this little boy!

2. SHANNEN MOVED TO DENVER- My sister for the last 8 years has lived in Hawaii. While it was a fun place to visit,,, visits were not frequent. In March they packed up and moved 450 miles away! I have seen her 5 times this year! Love it!

3. BABIES, BABIES, BABIES- Me, Jenny, Nicky, and Lindsey (Chris' 3 sisters) were all pregnant at the same time and all delivered babies within 6 months of each other. Almost to the day! 4 babies in 6 months! We have seen ALOT of Grammy and Pa... another great thing about 2008!

4. VISITING OLD FRIENDS- This year I have run into several old friends from high school and one from a base we were stationed at in South Dakota. Two I ran into at Costco and the others live in CO close to my sister and we were able to reconnect after many years. So, Cori, Jeremy and Karen, Aaron and Allson, and Tom and Tami... I loved seeing all of you and I hope that we can do it again soon.

5. TONSILECTOMY- This might sound like a weird one but strep throat has been a thorn in my side for many years. After Drew's birth I had chronic strep all summer. They couldn't kill it and I kept getting it over and over no matter what the medication. My body became resistant so they decided to cut out the tonsils. I haven't been sick since Sept. and my overall health is so much better. Why do we need them anyway?

6. LOSING 12 POUNDS.- I couldn't eat for two weeks after my surgery so I lost 12 lbs. There is the blessing after the curse.

7. SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE- Me, Hannah, Becca, Mom, and Shannen all went to So You Think You Can Dance Live here in Salt Lake City. It was SO MUCH FUN! I didn't want it to end. It was the best show I have ever been to.

8. MAMA MIA- By far, the best movie of 2008! I loved it!

One of Ethan's favorite things is to take pictures with his brother. Every time he lays by him, sits with him, plays with him, etc... he says " Mom take our picture".... It is not always Drew's favorite thing but this morning he was being a little cooperative.... Let's hope he always feels this way toward his baby brother.

Every year at Sego Lily Elementary (the kids' school) they have a reading program where if the kids read a certain amount of time they can earn passes to Seven Peaks Water Park. Both of the girls earned their passes this year and Becca and I took the kids down for a day of fun in the sun. Ryley earned her pass too. It was really fun.... The two of us with 6 little kids under the age of 9 at a water park was quite a sight to behold... They were actually really good and we want to plan a big family day next year!!

We just took a trip to California. We love it! Saturday was our 11th wedding anniversary and we spent the day at Victoria Gardens shopping, and playing in the fountains with a live band playing. It was so much fun! These next couple blogs are just some of the reasons that we LOVE LA!!

Beach Day

We love the beach. It was Drew's first trip. The kids could stay all day and then sleep there. We are tropical fish in this family. We took a picnic lunch and stayed the afternoon. They played in the sand, jumped over waves, ate lunch there, and ofcourse caught a big bucket full of sand crabs.

Somehow my children will always find an animal anywhere! They found a fish at the beach and named it Amy. Tess was very upset when we couldn't bring her home so we had to bury her and make a memorial for her before we left. Ofcourse, we took a picture to remember her by.

The LEGO Store

I think Ethan died and went to LEGO heaven that day! He is absolutely OBSESSED with Legos right now. He wakes up talking about them and goes to bed talking about them. We spent three hours in this store and he couldn't quite get enough. They had all these characters built out of Legos to include a huge giraffe as tall as the store.

Downtown Disney

We spent a day at Downtown Disney going through some shops. One of the highlights was the Rainforest Cafe where we stopped to eat lunch and take in the atmosphere. The kids loved it! So did Grammy!!

The Happiest Place on Earth!

We have had Disneyland yearly passes for the last couple of years because Chris' parents live so close. We decided not to renew them this year (Sniffle, Sniffle) and so we had to take a final trip. Chris couldn't get off work so I drove down by myself with the kids and went to Disneyland. Chris' mom came with me and so did Chris' sister and family. We had a great time! Ethan's favorite rides were Buzz Lightyear and the Teacups.

Belgian Springs

As most of you know... Chris and I bought a business last August called Belgian Springs. It is a catering and chocolate fountain business. We have loved it... We wanted to post some pictures of our last two events. The first two pictures are from the BYU formal dance that we catered and the second two are from a recent wedding that we did. It keeps us busy and we are really proud of it.

We always have a neighborhood 4th of July party where we all meet in our cul-de-sac and set off fireworks. It is so much fun. The kids have a blast! My sister comes up every year and we usually have other family member as well. Again, late on the pictures but better late than never!!

Tess Gets Glasses

We found out this year when Tess started Kindergarten that she couldn't see! She has never mentioned it or complained but I guess she wouldn't if she doesn't know the difference. After she put them on and we were driving home she was pointing out all the things that she never knew existed. I felt like Mother of the Year! We are pleased that she can now see. It has definitely helped out at school.

Sunday Drive

On Sundays we like to take drives. On this particular Sunday in November we drove through Provo canyon and up to Bridal Veil Falls which a gorgeous waterfall coming out of the mountains. We enjoyed seeing all the changing colors of Fall.

Hannah Goes To Day Camp

I know that I am way behind on these photos but Hannah attended Girl Scout Day Camp this summer with her troop. They did service projects, rock climbed, took hikes, had treasure hunts, took a yoga class, watched a birds of prey show, did lots of arts and crafts, got their hair and make up done and Miss Utah came to speak........ just to name a few. I was her leader that year so I got to go with her all three days and we had alot of fun.

Halloween

Halloween was really fun this year. Both of the girls got to be in the parade at their school and Ethan really captured the spirit of trick or treating. Chris spent alot of time decorating the house complete with a skeleton graveyard, haunted house, cobwebs,scary music and about 5 fog machines placed strategically around the yard. Needless to say, we had more trick or treaters this year. Because of not feeling well, Chris got to take the kids around trick or treating and I got to stay home and give out candy and see the surprise or fear on the kids faces as they walked up to the door.

Tess started kindergarten this year. She turned five 10 days before school started so it was a little hard for me to let go. She has a terrific teacher and is thriving in school. She is writing and reading up a storm.

September Birthdays

Ethan turned two on September 15 and Hannah turned nine on September 25. Because of a round of strep throat and my struggles with morning sickness their birthdays were celebrated together somewhere in between. I can't believe that my babies are growing up!

Tess turns FIVE!

Tess turned five in August and we celebrated by going to Kangaroo Zoo. Kangaroo Zoo is a big indoor warehouse full of jumping attractions. We had about 15 crazy five year old girls jumping for about 3 hours. It was so fun!

My friend Joy started a business selling flowers, headbands, bows, hats, etc..... She called and asked if she could use my girls as models for her business cards, posters, and portfolio. We had a fun day taking pictures with stuff in their hair. I also got to keep the pictures of the girls. Yeah!

Cornbellies

Shannon (Chris' sister) and Niels Englyng and their kids visited us just before Halloween. We took them for a COLD, rainy, windy night to Cornbellies at Thanksgiving Point for some Halloween fun to include a pumpkin launch cannon, huge jumping pillow and of course a Pirates of the Carribbean-themed corn maze. Afterwards we thawed out with some Starbucks hot chocolate and caramel apple cider. Thanks for coming up Englyngs!!!

Day Trip to Lemington, UT

We took a trip to Dusty's (brother in law) hometown of Lemington, Utah to play with goats, ride horses, and go four wheeling. Liann got to do alot of observing but everyone had a blast! It made us want to make a move to the country. Dusty's dad surprised us all with a big BBQ dinner.

This place is right in the middle of North Shore beach and it was awesome! The girls saw all kinds of fish and it was shallow enough in spots for Tess to be able to touch the bottom and wade around. Hannah said her favorite fish that she saw was the needle nose fish.
